Fiona

Fiona was the first jersey heifer we’ve ever had born here on the farm. To say we were excited would be an understatement! Fiona is the daughter of Fannie…get it…F?! 😂. Fiona showed and showed and showed! Both kids have travelled all over with her. She’s been out first bred and owned heifer the first one I’ve learned to clip etc!

Fiona is so sweet. She very very curious and that curiosity has gotten her into a few jams.

In fact one morning she managed to open a gate, I’m sure Maggie taught her how. The gate she opened led into the hay barn. Fiona decided they just she could teach was not as good as the hay on top of the stack. For whatever reason that heifer big and pregnant decided to try to climb the hay stack! When I came out that morning to milk I found her upside down in the hay barn with legs wedged under one gate and her head under another. She was pinned and I was in a panic! I was not strong enough to get her head back under a gate so she could right herself. I ran as fast as this old gal can go and yelled for Ty and Jeremy to come help. Thankfully they got rope halters on her head and one on her leg and got her drug into a more favorable position so they could safely let her get herself up.
She was fine other than being shook up, she was no more upset then Sophia and I!
The thing about jersey’s is they look for ways to get into trouble!
Fiona will be calving soon and we can’t wait to meet her baby and welcome Fiona into the milk barn!
